Extra-curricular activities are an important part of the education system at The Charter School. Whether it is through music, nature study, carpentry or theatre we nurture latent abilities in the young learner. To explore and nurture the skills, abilities and dreams of each learner, we offer-
Performing Arts Through theatrical games, music, singing and acting, the students involve in activities that help develop their interest and talent in performing arts. The focus is primarily on effective narration skills, voice modulation, body language and timing.
The sessions provides the students means to experiment and explore the world of contemporary dance in addition to classical dance forms and dances from around the world.
Visual Arts Drawing, painting, sculpting, calligraphy, needlework, craft, are some of the activities the students are exposed to. The Visual Arts Centre becomes a platform for students to develop creative and productive hobbies that will help them develop their artistic dexterity.
Robotics The students are introduced to the amazing world of mechanics and engineering from grade 1. An initiative that would help children develop a technical bend of mind at an early age. The centre runs pre-designed and achievable tasks that the students can start with, in programming robots.
Carpentry The projects at the Carpentry sessions are designed to familiarise the students with carpentry tools and to employ them safely to undertake – ‘do it yourself’ projects. In addition to developing knowledge about different types of wood and use of tools, carpentry helps young students to understand the concepts of geometry, and specifically mensuration.
Culinary Centre The food literacy programs that we present at our Culinary centre are stimulating, rewarding and above all fun. This experiential program introduces the child to the myriad world of flavours and aromas. While the program excites the student with its delicious rewards it also introduces concepts of healthy eating and nutrition. The sessions provide children opportunities to interact with chefs and appreciate cooking as an art.
Yoga and Aerobics Students and teachers are trained through yoga-inspired exercises to develop body-mind awareness and the ability to nurture their own well-being. A child who learns yoga, mindfulness and relaxation will develop essential skills for a lifetime of health and wellness .Aerobic fitness is directly related to brain health and cognition in children and the programs assist in promoting physical and psychological health.
Green zone Green zone aims at inculcating an appreciation of nature, among students. Green zone encourages students to undertake projects like ‘Say No to Plastic Bags’, Conservation of water & electricity, vermicomposting and tree plantation.
