Extra-curricular activities are an important part of the education system at The Charter School. Whether it is through music, nature study, carpentry or theatre we nurture latent abilities in the young learner.
To explore and nurture the skills, abilities and dreams of each learner; GLC at Charter offers:
Performing Arts Theatre
Through theatrical games, music, singing and acting; the students at the Performance Arts Theatre, involve in activities that help develop their interest and talent in performing arts. The focus will primarily be on effective narration skills, voice modulation, body language and timing.
The world class dance studio at The Charter School is equipped with precise acoustics and technologically advanced lighting facilities. The studio provides the students means to experiment and explore the world of contemporary dance in addition to classical dance forms, from across the world.
We strongly believe in the common adage – ‘A healthy mind resides in a healthy body’. Our gymnasium has scientifically designed equipments that can provide precise training to students of different age groups. The ambience of the gym ensures that the students will be positively motivated to come back regularly for their sessions. Expert trainers will ensure that students follow a healthy and sustainable fitness regime.
Visual Arts Studio
Drawing, painting, sculpting, photography, calligraphy, needlework, craft, screen printing, story boarding etc. are some of the activities this studio will have facilities for. Scientifically structured programmes will be offered here to enable students to discover their latent talents. The studio becomes a platform for students to develop creative and productive hobbies that will help them develop their artistic dexterity.
At our specifically designed Robotics Centre students can be introduced to the amazing world of mechanics and engineering at a very young age. An initiative that would help children develop a technical bend of mind at an early age, the centre will run pre-designed and achievable tasks that the students can start with, in programming robots.
The projects at the Carpentry workshop are designed to familiarise the students with carpentry tools and to employ them safely to undertake – do it yourself’ projects. In addition to developing knowledge about different types of wood and use of tools, carpentry helps young students to understand the concepts of geometry and specifically mensuration.
The food literacy programs that we are equipped to run at our Culinary centre are stimulating, rewarding and above all fun. This experiential program introduces the child to the myriad world of flavours and aromas. While the program excites the student with its delicious rewards it also introduces concepts of healthy eating and nutrition. The sessions provide children opportunities to interact with chefs and appreciate cooking as an art.
Yoga and Aerobics Zones
Students and teachers are trained through yoga-inspired exercises to develop body-mind awareness and the ability to nurture their own well-being. A child who learns yoga, mindfulness and relaxation will develop essential skills for a lifetime of health and wellness .Aerobic fitness is directly related to brain health and cognition in children and the programs assist in promoting physical and psychological health.
The Heritage Zone will be supported by The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH). Activities at this zone include a variety of heritage awareness projects that focus on the preservation of our culture and heritage.
Green zone aims at inculcating an appreciation of nature, among students. Green zone encourages students to undertake projects like ‘Say No to Plastic Bags’ÂÂ, Conservation of water & electricity, vermicomposting and tree plantation. Opportunities are provided to build camaraderie, take initiative, demonstrate helpfulness and appreciate the result of hard work.
